Dear Riverbend Families, 

We are very excited to begin the 2024-25 school year together! Our staff have been working diligently to prepare their classrooms for your children. On a personal note, I am honored to join Riverbend School as your new Principal and look forward to meeting everyone very soon.

Our first day of school is Thursday, August 29. Teachers will be reaching out via email by noon today to let you know some important details for the first day, like where to meet and what your child should bring to school. It will be a full day for our grade 1-6 students, from 8:00 – 2:35. Our kindergarten students will attend their regular AM or PM time.  

Classroom placements are complex, and staff have worked carefully to create classes that are balanced in multiple ways and we are not able to accommodate requests for specific teachers. 

With the exception of today, we will attempt to minimize communication from the school by sending one comprehensive weekly update, which will be scheduled to arrive in your inbox on Sundays. Please make sure that you have subscribed to receive both general and commercial email from CBE, as many messages must be sent as commercial such as information about field trips, fundraising and fun lunches. I will be sending out some further communication early this afternoon around the new Ministerial Order around personal mobile devices as well.

You may have noticed that the removal of our modular classrooms (portables) is ongoing. Students and families are asked to stay outside the fenced construction zone on the south side of the school. Our south doors are not accessible yet. There will be quite a bit of activity next week, when the actual removal is scheduled. I will provide a specific update in our weekly communication closer to the date.
