We had a great first week of school! It was the first time in a long while to start with a five-day week, and our students handled it in stride. Routines are being solidified, and new learning has begun!
Each Sunday morning, you will receive one comprehensive email with updates for the week. Please do take a few minutes to review the items. They are also posted to our school website: https://riverbend.cbe.ab.ca/ Here you will find information, calendars, bell times and more. We look forward to another fantastic partnership with all our Riverbend families this school year!

Back to School Forms
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. An email was sent out earlier this week about these forms. If you have already completed your annual forms, you can disregard the message below.
In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:
- Demographic Verification - 2026-27
- Citizenship Information Update - 2026-27 – This form becomes available and is required to complete if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
- Annual Authorization - 2026-27 – Combines the following forms:
o School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
o Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
o Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
o Consent for Student Participation in Annual CBE Surveys – these surveys support school and system planning and help improve programs and supports offered to students
o Parental Opt-In for Notifiable curriculum for students in grades 3 to 9 – written consent of parents prior to providing instructions or materials that deal primarily and explicitly with human sexuality, gender identity or sexual orientation. Students are unable to participate in this portion of the curriculum unless consent is granted.
SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account.
For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).
To complete these forms:
1. Sign in to your MyCBE account
2. Click on the SchoolEngage icon
3. Select the form
4. Complete or review and update the form
5. Click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
6. Repeat steps 3-5 for each form
Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 14. These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education and Childcare to confirm student funding.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school. We thank you for completing the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for the 2026-27 school year.
Attendance & Absence Reporting
School begins promptly at 8:00. Students arriving after the 8:00 bell should proceed to the front office to check in and receive a welcome slip.
Please report student absences to the office by calling the attendance line at 403-777-6510, ext. 1. You are welcome to email your child’s teacher as well, but please ensure the office is also notified by phone message to prevent errors in attendance.
Student Pick Up and Drop Off
A reminder that there is no student drop-off or parent parking in the staff parking lot for safety reasons. Please use the designated drop-off areas and walk students around the parking lot rather than cutting across it. Staff may still be arriving at school, and we have had a few close calls with students and vehicles in this area. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
Reminder: Annual Volunteer Registration Required for All School Volunteers
To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must be registered with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities.
The Annual Volunteer Registration Form is valid for the current school year only. All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new registration form each school year before participating in volunteer activities.
Process: Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the POPA requirements and sign to indicate their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form.
New This Year: Community members who do not have a child registered with CBE must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer. This change allows school staff to verify that volunteers have reviewed and acknowledged their privacy obligations under Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
From School Council:
Welcome back everyone! Please mark the calendar and join us for our first meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept 17, 6:30-8:00pm.
Not sure what School Council is? We are a group of parents & guardians focused on enhancing our children’s school experience through exciting projects, fun activities, and meaningful conversations with our school Admin.
Join us to hear about the awesome plans for the year ahead. Feel free to come a few minutes early at 6:15pm to connect with our Principal, Assistant Principal, and other parents.
Our School Council/REPS will once again offer hot lunch and popcorn snacks for optional purchase once per month. A paper form will be coming home early next week with more information about ordering. The first deadline for popcorn snack is September 15th. More information can be found on our Parent Society webpage.
