Thank you to our School Council for hosting the Welcome Back picnic! Lemonade and watermelon were enjoyed by all, and it was lovely to see so many families come out to see their child(ren)'s new classroom and visit with each other. 

Jeff Stockton brought his harp and captivated us with his magical storytelling on Wednesday. Classes will be working with him a few times over the next two weeks, and then on Thursday October 8th, from 6:00-7:00 pm we will share our learning. Further details will be shared closer to the date.

If you have last-minute changes to your child’s pick-up plans during the school day, please call the office to let us know, as teachers may not be able to check their email before the end of the school day.

Jacket Racket

Riverbend will once again be accepting donations for Jacket Racket, a Calgary program that helps ensure children and families have warm winter clothing. We will be collecting gently used and new winter jackets, snow pants, boots, hats, and mittens to help keep our community warm this winter. Donations can be placed in the labelled bin at the front entrance to the school between September 28th and November 6th.

Terry Fox

Last Tuesday we had a Terry Fox ambassador, Willa, visit our school to share her story at an assembly. She told us about Terry, his family and her connection to his cause. She even brought a replica of his prosthetic leg for us to see! On Thursday, we ran for Terry on a circuit around our schoolyard. Students brought Twoonies for Terry and we also have an online site (https://schools.terryfox.ca/136466) that will be open for a bit longer if you would like to donate here.
