We are always so impressed with the community spirit - whether it is during the school day or after hours, there is always something going on at Riverbend! We are fortunate to have an active School Council who plan fun activities for our students, as well as fund so many learning experience "extras." This dedicated group of volunteers is willing to plan and organize, but they need your participation to make the events successful! Please have a look at the "From School Council" section below to see how you can assist in these efforts.
School Council has completed these in the 2026-27 school year already:
- Funded $750 per classroom to subsidize field trip costs for parents
- Organized the Welcome Back picnic, lemonade and watermelon snack
- Purchased Root Robots to support STEM learning in science
- Funded the Storytelling residency and family night
- Organized the Halloween Dance
- Funded the Mobile Escape problem-solving activity for grade 5 & 6 students
- Funded new library furniture
- Organized Hot Lunches and Popcorn Snack days throughout the year
- Funded JUMP Math workbooks and visual journals for all students
- Committed funds to add to our library's book collection, art supplies and personalized learning tools
- Learning Garden clean up - Thank you, it looks great!
- And more plans are in the works!
Thank you for making Riverbend School a vibrant learning community!

Grade 6 Update
Our Grade 6 students had a fantastic time at Outdoor School this past week. Beautiful weather added to the fun, with campfire songs, the low ropes course, and the Energy Game among their favourite activities. Students enjoyed spending time outdoors, working together, and making memories with their classmates. Thank you to Mx. R and Ms. Hume for accompanying our grade six students to camp!
Jacket Racket Donations
Thank you to our Riverbend families for your generosity with Jacket Racket! Our donation bin is filling up, and there are still two weeks left to contribute. We’re collecting clean, gently used or new winter jackets, snow pants, boots, hats, and mittens until November 6th. Your donations help Calgary children access the warm winter gear they need. If your family could benefit from winter gear, please reach out to Mrs. Poole or Ms. Hume.
Halloween
Students are welcome to wear a costume to school on Friday, October 30th. This is optional. Faces must not be covered, and any weapons or accessories are to be left at home. Please do not bring candy to hand out or for snacks. We will have a small parade for students and staff at the end of the morning to show our costumes to each other and will end the day with a movement break in the gym.
CBE Well-Being Student Survey – Grade 4, 5, & 6
Please review the attached letter regarding the CBE Well-Being Student Survey details for students in Grade 4, 5 and 6. The surveys will be administered the week of November 2-6. CBE Student Survey Letter Fall 2026
From School Council:
Halloween Dance
We are in need of volunteers to help out with the Halloween Dance. Security clearance is not required for this School Council-sponsored, after hours event.
This family dance is Thursday, October 29th from 5:30pm-7:30pm, and is geared for children up to grade six age. The first hour will be lower volume and more lights on, and for the second hour we will turn up the volume and turn down the lights. It's sure to be a spooktacular time, with a DJ, concession, and dance prizes! Cost is $2 per child and parents/guardians attend for free. This event is for Riverbend School students and their families only, and all students must be accompanied by an adult.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser
This is the last week of the Cookie Dough Fundraiser. If we sell over 1,000 boxes every student in the school will be invited to a school-wide pizza party! Plan some time this week to sell some cookies. Order forms are due by Monday, November 2nd. Submit payment by e-Transfer to fundraising@riverbendraccoons.ca.
