We had our first Raccoon Day on Friday where students are mixed into multi-age groups across the school. Through a story, sharing circle, and a game, students explored what kindness looks like and how we can show it in our school community. It was a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, get to know new teachers and peers, and strengthen our sense of belonging at Riverbend! We look forward to the next Raccoon Day in November.

Updates and Information:
Thank you, Riverbend, for your donations to Jacket Racket thus far. Our donation bin is starting to fill up. We welcome donations of clean, gently used and new winter jackets, snow pants, boots, hats, and mittens up until November 6th!
Jacket Racket will distribute donations to Calgary children in need of warm winter gear. Please let Mrs. Poole or Ms. Hume know if your family needs a winter gear donation.
Photo Retake Day
Photo retakes will be on Wednesday, October 28. All students who were absent on photo day will automatically be included in retakes. We will send home a notice this week for anyone who would like a do-over for their child’s photo. Only students who have returned the parent/guardian-signed form will be called for a photo retake.

Our 11th annual cookie dough fundraiser is underway! Have you checked out the prizes? Plan some time this week to sell some cookies. Order forms are due by Monday, November 2nd. Submit payment by e-Transfer to fundraising@riverbendraccoons.ca.
School Council/REPS Annual Halloween Dance
Get ready for a fun-filled evening of Halloween music, dancing, and treats!
Thursday, October 29th 5:30 - 7:30 pm
There will be a DJ, a concession, and dance prizes to make the evening extra special! The first hour will be lower volume and more lights will be on. The second hour we will turn down the lights and turn up the volume a little. Bring your Toonies for entry and change for the concession! Cost: $2 per child (parents/guardians attend for free). All students must be accompanied by an adult. For Riverbend School students and their families only.
We’re also looking for volunteers to make this event a success! If you’re able to lend a hand, please click here to view volunteer opportunities and sign up. Some of the jobs are: decorating, admission table, hall monitors, concession table and clean up. Many hands make light work.
