We are always so impressed with the community turnout at Riverbend events, and the Halloween Family Dance was no exception! Thank you to our Social Coordinator and all the volunteers who make this annual event such a success!

The past week was filled with many activities beyond Halloween... our grade three students are making moccasin art and exploring the properties of fluids. Grade five students were busy making boats out of recyclables and testing them to see if they would float and hold a load. Grade fours were learning about explorers in social studies and our grade two students worked on a painting project. Teachers engaged in professional learning communities on Friday afternoon, looking at student writing and setting learning goals. Mr. Greg and Ms. Kelly have a watchful eye out to see which class will earn the "Platinum Pail" award for keeping their room tidy each week.

Updates and Information:

Remembrance Day Assembly

Families are invited to our Remembrance Day assembly on Tuesday, November 10th at 10:00. Doors will open at 9:45 for audience members.

Understanding your Child's Literacy and Numeracy Screening Results

A system-wide message was sent last Monday, October 26th to all parents/legal guardians of Grades 1-5 students. If you did not receive this correspondence and have questions, please reach out to school administration.

Jacket Racket

This is the final week for Jacket Racket donations. Our bin is overflowing, but we will make more room! If you have any gently used winter gear to donate, now is the time! Calgary students in need are very grateful for your generosity. If your family could benefit from winter gear, please reach out to Ms. Hume or Mrs. Poole.

Lunchroom Notes

We are an allergy-aware school. Please refrain from sending food items containing peanuts or tree nuts to school. We do have several students and staff with severe allergies.

Traffic Safety

Thank you to our families for being patient and driving slowly, particularly during the darker morning drop-off time. We appreciate your efforts to keep everyone safe!

Lost & Found

Our lost and found is full! Is your child missing a hoodie or jacket? There's a good chance it is here. Please encourage your child(ren) to check for missing items.

From School Council:

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

Last chance to submit your cookie dough orders! They are due tomorrow, Monday, November 2nd! Remember to submit only one e-transfer and make sure we have your contact information on the forms. As a fun bonus, any student that participates in the fundraiser will receive a bookmark! Students who sell more than 5 boxes will have a choice of a bonus Rocky Raccoon bookmark, keychain, or sticker.

REMINDERS:

1. Please do not have your customers send us payments directly. You must collect payments from your customers and send us one payment for all your customer's orders when you are finished selling.

2. Our e-Transfer email (fundraising@riverbendraccoons.ca) is registered for auto-deposit so please confirm before submitting your payment that it lists the registered name as RIVERBEND ELEMENTARY PARENTS SOCIETY OF CALGARY. If this name is not shown or it is not detected as registered for auto-deposit, then double check the spelling of the email (there are two c's in raccoons!) because otherwise we will not receive your payment.

School Council Meeting

The next Council meeting will be on Thursday, November 19th at 6:30. Administration will be presenting the School Development Plan as part of their presentation.
