This week was short, but packed full of learning. On Monday’s professional development day, our entire staff worked with Jenn from Yellow Steps to find out more about place-based learning. You may have even seen us on our walk through Carburn Park, where some of this work will happen later in the year.
On Friday, our grade five and six students engaged in hands-on problem-solving tasks with the Mobile Escape City facilitators. There were mysteries to solve in the library as well as in the trailer outside. The energy of the students was buzzing – they look forward to this special activity as they enter our older grades. Students even learned how to create their own puzzles to solve!
We are grateful for the support of School Council/REPS for funding these initiatives. Thank you!

From School Council:
Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Our 10th annual cookie dough fundraiser is underway! Order forms and information sheets went home on Thursday and orders are due by October 29. Students seem excited about the prizes and many are already working hard selling that delicious dough!
REMINDERS:
1. Please do not have your customers send us payments directly. You must collect payments from your customers and send us one payment for all your customer's orders when you are finished selling. Please add the student’s name in the note section.
2. Our e-Transfer email (fundraising@riverbendraccoons.ca) is registered for auto-deposit so please confirm before submitting your payment that it lists the registered name as RIVERBEND ELEMENTARY PARENTS SOCIETY OF CALGARY. If this name is not shown or it is not detected as registered for auto-deposit, then double check the spelling of the email (there are two c's in raccoons!) because otherwise we will not receive your payment.
