We hope everyone is enjoying the May long weekend, and here's hoping that the weather forecast was wrong this time around!
Following the Maatoomsii’Pookaiks (Children First) professional development day in April, students and teachers have renewed focus integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into tasks promoting belonging. Depending on the grade, student learning includes artwork about the seven sacred teachings, culture jars and self-reflection, grounding in nature activities using the senses, adding compliments for self and others into their sharing circles, growing seeds, reflecting on others’ shared experiences and writing songs. One of the activities for our teachers during Friday’s professional day was to share out and gather new ideas from colleagues based on this work.
