We had another great week of learning at Riverbend! Next week we are very excited to be using our traverse wall in the gym, which our teachers have recently completed training on, as well as playing some gaga ball. As we approach spring break, we will be hosting an art show and conferences and School Council has a regular meeting plus the cyber safety presentation – there is lots to look forward to in the coming weeks.
Don’t forget to “spring ahead” for the time change this weekend!

Student-Led Conferences
Thursday, March 19th, 3:15-7:15, are our student-led conferences. Information will be coming home this Wednesday, and the booking system opens Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
Popcorn Snack
The deadline for ordering for this month's popcorn recess is March 10th.
Volunteers Requested – Art Show Preparation
We are looking for some volunteers to mount artwork on backing paper. This would involve paper cutting, gluing/taping student work at the school. If this is of interest and you have some time (flexible times within school hours on our end), please email Mrs. Poole (dmpoole@cbe.ab.ca) with your availability. A completed volunteer clearance is required.

Sharing is caring... except at lunchtime!
We do not allow students to share their food for many reasons – allergies, intolerances, religious food restrictions, and personal preferences of knowing what your child is eating. Please help us out by having a discussion at home that sharing lunch items is not okay at school.
Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance Survey
The deadline has been extended to March 13th. Currently we only have 16 out of a possible 103 families who have completed the survey. I would love to see at least 25 surveys completed! Let’s see if we can beat 16 by the deadline! This is for parents of grade 4, 5 & 6 students only, and the Random Access Code required was emailed out at the end of January.
From School Council:
Our next meeting is Thursday, March 12th and will feature Sherwood School’s principal, Brenna Fraser, to talk about our community grade 7-9 school. It will be a great opportunity to meet Riverbend’s Assistant Principal Hume as well!
March 17th, 6:30 p.m. at Riverbend School – Cyber Safety expert, Paul Davis, is visiting our community. Parents, this session is for you! Paul is known internationally for his expertise in online safety and he will be here in person to speak to Riverbend & Sherwood parents. The cost of this presentation has graciously been covered by both school Parent Societies.
