We are very excited to welcome Assistant Principal Hume on Monday! I know she is very excited to meet our students and their families as well.

Last Thursday we had much better temperatures to host our Riverbend Olympics. Students had a variety of activities to choose from, including snowshoeing, blanket volleyball, curling, colouring, making friendship bracelets and more! Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help – it was a great morning! Following the games, Ms. Olorenshaw had arranged for a guest speaker to work with our grade 4, 5, & 6 students to talk about composing, arranging and producing music. We all learned so much!

Updates and Information:

Report Cards

We hope families have had a chance to review their child’s report card.  They are available for viewing through your MyCBE Account.

Please note, after May 29, 2026 all Semester 1 report cards will no longer be available for viewing, downloading, and/or printing.  If you want to have a copy of your child’s report card, please make sure to download or print it before May 29.

Student-Led Conferences

Save the date – Thursday, March 19th, 3:15-7:15, for our student-led conferences. These are set up exclusively for one evening only! Sign up details coming soon.

Morning Entry

Teacher supervision is available in the mornings, starting at 7:45. Feel free to drop off your child anytime between 7:45-8:00. The west and south entrances are available for students in the mornings. On extremely cold days, we will endeavor to have all doors available to enter as soon as possible.

Please note that parents should always use the front (east) door to enter the school and present yourself at the office. When ringing the doorbell, you might notice that we are asking you to identify yourself before we buzz you in, as the person answering the door may not recognize you. Our goal is to have a friendly and welcoming, yet safe and secure environment for all.

Parking

Reminder – we prefer that the north angled parking is for quick drop-offs and pick ups only. If you would like to park and walk your child onto the schoolyard or sit and wait in your car, please use street or community centre parking. This allows for greater safety at drop-off, so children are not navigating traffic through the lots.

The staff lot is not to be used for drop-offs or pick up. Thank you for your attention to these safety measures for our children.

From School Council:

Our next meeting is Thursday, March 12th and will feature Sherwood School’s principal, Brenna Fraser, to talk about our community grade 7-9 school. It will be a great opportunity to meet Riverbend’s Assistant Principal Hume as well!

March 17th, 6:30 p.m. at Riverbend School – Cyber Safety expert, Paul Davis, is visiting our community. Parents, this session is for you! Paul is known internationally for his expertise in online safety and he will be here in person to speak to Riverbend & Sherwood parents. The cost of this presentation has graciously been covered by both school Parent Societies.
