This week brings our Elev8 Lacrosse residency to Riverbend. All students will be learning lacrosse skills over the next two weeks with Elev8 instructors in their physical education classes. Thank you to our School Council/REPS for sponsoring this residency.

Now that the winter holidays are over, we have noticed several students have new devices and are excited to bring these to school. We would like to remind all families of our K-9 CBE policy of "Away for the Day" which applies to any personal mobile device that can used to communicate with or access the internet. This includes smart watches, cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, and earbuds, etc. 

This policy is in place to comply with Provincial Ministerial Order #014/2024. 

At school, we expect that any devices that you may wish to send with your child are powered off by 8:00 a.m. and put in backpacks where they are out of sight for the day. After the 2:30 p.m. bell and once they have exited our building, students may then bring out their devices and power them back on. Students who choose to bring personal mobile devices to school do so at their own risk.

Safety - Wildlife 

There have been a couple sightings of bobcats in the neighborhood in recent mornings. Please be vigilant when arriving to school, especially as it is still a bit dark at entry times.  

Pizza Party - Friday

The School Council-sponsored pizza party is this Friday! All students will be participating unless you opted-out in December. The prize winners from the cookie dough fundraiser will also be announced at this event.

2026-27 Registration 

Registration for the 2026-27 school year opens on Monday, January 12th. If you have a child who will be attending kindergarten next year, please register as soon as possible. Early registration helps us with planning for next year. 

If you have questions about the registration process, or about our school in general, please contact the office. Mrs. Poole and Mrs. Scott are happy to assist with questions about Riverbend School! Ms. Allen is your go-to person if you need help with School Engage, our online registration platform, or with your MyCBE account. 

Our current students do not need to register for next year. 

Grade 3-6 Families - Save the Date! 

Sherwood School is having an open house on Thursday, February 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and invite families to come explore their programming options. Sherwood is the designated community junior high for our neighbourhood. Further details are forthcoming. 

Lost & Found 

We collected all items in our lost and found and bagged them up prior to winter break. We will be donating these items after January 29th. If you are missing anything, please arrange to view the collection before this date. Items misplaced since January 5th will be in the usual spot near the gym stairs and not donated until the end of the year. 

Wanted: Size 5 & 6 Boys Pants 

Accidents happen, and sometimes we need emergency clothing. We are well-stocked except for size 5/6 boys' pants. If you have some that your child has outgrown, we will happily accept these donations. We are not in need of any other items currently.
