Our teachers have been busy the past few weeks gathering assessments and evaluating student progress against curriculum outcomes. Beginning on Tuesday, February 24th, you will be able to view your child’s report card online, via your MyCBE account. If your child is also supported with an Individual Program Plan, you will receive a copy on or before this date as well. Your first point of contact for any complements, concerns or questions regarding progress is the classroom teacher. They can be reached via email to set up a mutually convenient time to talk. We will also host student-led conferences just prior to spring break.
Last week our kindergarten students met two police officers to talk about community helpers, and our grade six students visited the Police Interpretive Centre. Everyone enjoyed curling in gym classes, and some of our parents even tried their hand after the Council meeting. You never know what kind of fun we get up to at those meetings – come check the next one out on March 12th!
We are looking forward to warmer temperatures, outdoor recesses, and of course our upcoming Winter Olympics this week!

Food Bank “Competition for a Cause”
The big winner is the Calgary Food Bank! Gratitude goes out to our community for filling 5 ½ tall boxes full of grocery items! Special mention to the grade twos in room 7 who had the most full individual box and to the grade three team for collectively crushing it!
Surveys
Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance Survey – Families of grade 4-6 students only
Grade 4, 5 and 6 students will complete the survey during class time this week. More information can be found here: Alberta-Education-and-Childcare-Assurance-Survey-Parent-Notification-2026.pdf
The parent survey was emailed directly to families on January 26, and it closes March 6th. Please take a few minutes to complete this important metric which informs our School Development Plan. Typically, we only have about a dozen families reporting and would love to see this number higher!
CBE Pulse Survey – all families
CBE is conducting a short survey to understand the perspectives of staff and families to inform planning for the last year of the 2024-27 Education Plan. The survey will be open from Feb. 23 - March 8. A link will be sent directly to all CBE families on Monday. If you have questions about how our School Development Plan works in tandem with the Education Plan, please reach out to Mrs. Poole.
From School Council:
Our next regular meeting is Thursday, March 12 at 6:30. Brenna Fraser, Sherwood School principal, will be at the meeting. Stop by to see what’s happening at our community junior high.
Paul Davis, online safety expert, is coming to do a special presentation for parents/guardians on Tuesday, March 17th at 6:30. Come see this international speaker, courtesy of the Riverbend and Sherwood School Councils. This presentation is for parents/guardians only. Our grade 4-6 students will participate in a student presentation during the day.
