Happy Support Staff Appreciation Week! While we appreciate our support staff every day, this week we formally recognize their work to keep schools running smoothly. At Riverbend, our support staff include our administrative assistant, education assistants, library assistant, lead lunch and lunch supervisors, our facility operator and cleaner. Thank you for all you to support student learning!

This week is also National Volunteer Week. Thank you to the parents and family members who came out to support our grade 3 & 4 swimming program last week! We do have next week’s program for our grade 1 & 2 students as well. If you can spare an hour or two of your time and have your security clearance in place, we would love to have your assistance April 27-May 1. Riverbend is fortunate to have so many dedicated volunteers, from field trip support to classroom helpers and our amazing School Council/REPS team, thank you!

Our next large requests for volunteers will be for June 2’s Stampede Pancake breakfast and June 19’s “Raccoona” (the name for our sports/activity day). Keep an eye on this weekly message for further details. Several classes have upcoming field trips, and teachers will connect directly with their families for those volunteer requests.

If you have a child coming to kindergarten in September, please save the date - Thursday, May 28th from 6:00-7:00 for our annual kindergarten orientation night!

Music

Welcome back, Mr. Hall, who returned last Wednesday.

Please note that there will not be a spring concert this year.

Bicycles, Scooters & Rollerblades

Now that some better weather is upon us (hopefully that was the last of the snow!), please note that bikes and scooters must be walked on CBE property, and that rollerblades are not allowed to be worn on the property. We do have bike racks to lock up bikes and scooters and look forward to seeing students using these alternate modes of transportation to and from school this spring.

From School Council:

Volunteer Opportunities - Next school year, we have a couple open positions on School Council / REPS. Please reply if you're interested in learning more!

  • Chair / President - coordinates monthly meetings, correspondence, annual reports
  • Co-Chair / Vice-President - shares and supports above duties
  • Cookie Dough - focuses on communications & event planning
  • Learning Garden - coordinates annual clean-up

Save the Dates!

Please mark the calendar for these important dates:
