We had an exciting first few days of school last week! Students were busy getting into learning routines and getting to know their classmates and teachers. I am very proud of our students! I observed them helping each other, demonstrating an openness to learning new things and everyone was very flexible during the building moves. What a welcome and caring school we have at Riverbend!
We love to hear from you at Riverbend! If you have questions or concerns about learning and routines in your child(ren)’s classroom, please reach out to the teacher first. They work the closest with the students, and are able to provide specifics about the programming in their classrooms. Email is the preferred method of reaching teachers and please give a 48 hour window for response during school days.
School concerns beyond the classroom can be sent to Mrs. Poole, Mrs. Scott or to riverbend@cbe.ab.ca.

Updates and Information
Fire Drill:
We will have our first fire drill on Tuesday. Teachers will be reviewing the procedures with students for this important safety drill ahead of time, as it is our first one. Future fire drills will not be announced.
Lost & Found:
We are hoping to have empty lost and found bins this year! Please take a minute to label belongings such as water bottles, lunch bags, hoodies and jackets so they can find their owner. Cool mornings and warmer afternoons often find several hoodies left outdoors this time of year.
Messages:
A few email messages went out this week from the office – one specific to our slight shift in the lunch break and a construction update. If you are hearing about messages but not receiving them, please ensure your email is set to accept both general and commercial messaging from the school. As we get into the year and discuss field trips, fun lunches and fundraisers, you may miss messages you would like to have, as these are sent as “commercial” to comply with federal anti-spam legislation. Click here for more information.
From School Council:
School Council Meeting - Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30-8pm. Join us to hear about the exciting events and projects for the year ahead and learn about the important impact school council has at our school and how to make your voice heard. Come a few minutes early at 6:15pm to connect with our Principal, Assistant Principal, and other parents.
